A lintel block with egg-and-dart moulding above two stepped fasciae (<measure dim="height" type="length">0.75</measure> × <measure dim="width" type="length">4.95</measure> × <measure dim="depth" type="length">0.95</measure>); the condition of the stone appears not to have altered since it was first recorded.

22 is cut on the upper fascia, and 42 on the lower. A cross flanked by an alpha and an omega within a circle was later cut over 22, probably at the time that 42 was cut, or perhaps when it was emended.</p>

Earlier editors did not record the two stops (simple dots) or the apparent trace of a cross at the beginning of l. 2; the stone is broken here, and the reading is not certain.</p>

For the good fortune of the splendid metropolis of the <supplied reason="omitted">S</supplied>tauropolitans, this work of the gate was also renewed, under Fl<expan>avius</expan> Ampelius, the most eloquent <term lang="lat">scholasticus</term> and <term lang="lat">pater</term>, in the eighth indiction.</ab>
