A rectangular white marble base with panels within moulded edges on four sides (1.24 × 0.56 × 0.50).

Description of Text

On one face is an inscription of the late second or early third century (partly published by L. Robert, , 299, n. 2; NYU Baths 4); 74 is cut on the opposite panel (1.08 × 0.46)

Description of Letters

0.03-0.07; very irregular, clearly cut.

Date

Late fifth/sixth century (language, lettering).

Edition χρυσῶν χιλιάδας τρῖς ὤπασε τῶιδε λοετρῶι Ἑρμίας κὲ μνῆστιν ἀ ειζώουσαν ἐφεῦρεν .

Translation Hermias gave three thousands of gold to this bath, and obtained an everliving fame lit. memory.
