Description of Monument

Twenty-two white marble fragments, some joining, from the outer rim of a large circular feature (outer diam. 3 m, inner 2.55). The blocks were designed to be seen from below, and have elaborately ornamented trapezoidal panels on the underside (each c. 0.98 long); the panels each have a different pattern, which enables the grouping together of several fragments which do not join. The blocks are slightly convex, and the outer edge slopes outwards from bottom to top (H. 0.16); on it are a series of bosses with an ornamental cross (c. 0.40 apart).

The text runs in one line between the bosses, with a continuous line incised above and below it.

Description of Letters

av. 0.09; deep triangular trenches; elongated and ornate. Colon for stop in a after φύσιν, and in b: semi-colon in a after ΡΙΣ; horizontal line over abbreviation in k.
