Large blue marble laver partly reconstructed from fragments (2.75 across cord) with central boss (0.87 across cord).

Inscribed on the boss. There is a pair, broken, and too damaged to show whether it also was inscribed.

Very worn; 0.095.

Date

Second to third centuries A.D. (lettering, especially four-bar Σ in ll. 3, 4).

Apparatus

ll. 1, 2, the name and presumably patronymic are too badly damaged to yield sense.

Commentary

Mentioned by Reynolds, Aphrodisias Papers I, 39. These lavers possibly belonged originally in the gymnasium mentioned on the architrave 1.174 (=Temple 12).
