Part of a white marble sarcophagus lid (0.647 × 0.70 × 0.135).

Inscribed on the edge; re-carved in the Byzantine period.

Date

Second to third centuries A.D. (lettering).

Edition ἀντίγραφον ταύτης τῆς ἐπιγράφης ἀπετέθη εἰς τὸ χρεοφυλάκιον
Apparatus

Χ apparently altered to chi-rho - probably in the Byzantine period, rather than an otherwise unattested abbreviation of χρεοφυλάκιον.

Translation

Commentary

A good example of the re-use of spolia.
