Description of Monument

A small white marble moulded base, oval with flattened back (0.85 at base – 0.65 above, × 0.35), rather chipped, especially on lower moulding; remains of metal channel, for an attachment, towards the right side of the top.

Some cursive influences: 0.05-0.08; square sigma, lunate omega.

Perhaps early second century A.D. (lettering)

Translation

To the god Asklepios in payment of a vow.

Commentary

Dedication of a promised object (not described) by an unnamed dedicator, doubtless in gratitude for a cure. The object dedicated may well have been an image of the part of the body that had been cured.
