<p>The Gerousia, from their own funds, (honoured) Gaius Hosidius Iulianos, who dedicated for his fatherland a contest in the half-talent category, and dedications for the goddess; the overseer was Menandros son of Artemidoros son of Menandros son of Artemidoros son of Kikinnas, secretary for the second time.</p>

<p>The same man was honoured by Council and People, in <xref type="inscription" n="569" href="080039">8.39</xref>, apparently in an adjoining text: the first block of <xref type="inscription" n="569" href="080039">8.39</xref> continues the moulding found above the text in <xref type="inscription" n="568" href="080038">8.38</xref>. Inscribed on the blocks which make up the cornice, of the Doric order, above <xref type="inscription" n="536" href="080001">8.1</xref>,  the inscription of Zoilos, across the back of the Theatre stage. The blocks have simple moulding above, supporting water spouts in the form of lions' heads; the underside has a decoration of mutules.</rs>
