White marble statue base with elaborate moulding above and below, chipped at the upper right corner (0.84 × 0.68 × 0.84). The statue of the Demos was found with it.

Translation

For Aphrodite, the gods Augusti, the People: the statue of the People Nikomachos son of Menodotos the son of Menandros and Menodotos son of Nikomachos the son of Menodotos put up as they promised.

Commentary

Strictly the date should be after the deification of Livia Augusta, but it is possible to envisage a dedication of this sort in the east much earlier. On statues of Demos see NPMilner, AS 38, (1988), 137.

For another dedication of a statue of Demos see 2.111 (=62.452) (mentioned by Erim and Smith)
