        <p>A rectangular <rs type="material" key="marmor">white marble</rs> <rs type="objectType"><rs type="objectType">statue base</rs> shaft</rs> (<measure type="length" unit="metre" dim="height">1.01</measure> × <measure type="length" unit="metre" dim="width">0.48</measure> × <measure type="length" unit="metre" dim="depth">0.60</measure>) with moulding, broken above and below. The stone was re-used; on the opposite face there is a half-moon in relief, suggesting that it perhaps had had a religious function. It stood rather awkwardly on a plinth formed by cutting down another base.</p>

The renewer and founder of the metropolis and benefactor of all Caria, Flavius Palmatus, <foreign lang="la">spectabilis</foreign> consular, also holding the position of the <foreign lang="la">magnificentissimus</foreign> vicar; Flavius Atheneus, the <foreign lang="la">clarissimus pater</foreign> of the most splendid <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign lang="la">clarissima</foreign></supplied> metropolis of the Aphrodisians, set up <supplied reason="subaudible">this statue of Palmatus</supplied> in gratitude.</ab>
