Description of Monument

White marble altar, originally with moulding below on three sides (0.30 × 0.69 × 0.345); top rough and perhaps intended to carry a crowning feature; hollowed out and re-used as a trough with a circular hole (? for a pipe) cut in the original face.

Translation

To Hadrian the Saviour Zeus Olympios.

Commentary

One of several small 'altars' dedicated to Hadrian: 9.119 (=81.98), 8.256 (=70.254)

The title Zeus Olympios is thought to follow from the dedication of the Olympieion at Athens in autumn 129.

The absence of a dedicator's name is unexpected.
