        <p>A re-used <rs type="material" key="marmor">white marble</rs> <seg cert="low"><rs type="objectType">statue base</rs></seg> (<measure type="length" unit="metre" dim="width">0.99</measure>  × <measure type="length" unit="metre" dim="height">0.52</measure> × <measure type="length" unit="metre" dim="depth">0.515</measure>) originally intended for architectural decoration; the rear face has elaborate mouldings at each side. The stone is broken at the top left corner and the right side, and the surface is worn.</p>

        <p>There are no significant differences between the modern copies. In line 8, for <foreign lang="grc">ξυνὸν</foreign>, <title level="m">AP</title> has <foreign lang="grc">κοῖλον</foreign>. The Byzantine copyist perhaps chose to 'improve' the text, and wrote <foreign lang="grc">κοινὸν</foreign> which was subsequently corrupted to <foreign lang="grc">κοῖλον</foreign> (as editors since Boeckh have conjectured); but see commentary, <xref type="eAla-text" n="V.8">V.8</xref>.</p>

        <head>Translation</head>
        <ab>The light of virtue shines even for dead men, who, undertaking many labours for their country, established general benefits. The saying fits Asklepiodotos, for whom this city has dedicated this statue as for a founder.</ab>
        <ab>Long time wears away even stone; but the fame of Asklepiodotos' virtues is immortal, the number and kind of privileges which he obtained for his country. In addition to all these, let this adjacent structure of the vaulted chamber be counted as well.</ab>
