Description of Monument

Part of a white marble stele, broken away above and to the left (0.55 × 1.05 × 0.12-0.15). with a relief below of a lion apparently with hind legs on a base, a dog below, and a winged victory to the right, her hand upholding the lower right corner of a moulded panel.

Apparatus

We do not know how many lines are lost above l. 1.

l. 1, the leftmost stroke is compatible with Ν, perhaps, then, from τῶν, but not certainly so

Translation

. . . ] of his ancestors [ . . ? . . .] of the temples the [ . . ? . . .] ?in Aphrodisias.

Commentary

It would be reasonable to interpret this text as a record of the restoration of memorials to his ancestors by an Aphrodisian of the late first or early second century A.D., probably Kallikrates son of Molossos, who recorded such activity in 12.402, 12.701, with particular reference to the late Republican Kallikrates son of Pyhthodoros, 11.301 (cf also 12.103, 11.301).
