<head>Commentary</head>
<p>For <seg cert="low">the same man</seg> see <xref type="inscription" n="1228" href="120712">12.712</xref> (=Reinach 29); cf. also M. Ant. Venidius Apellas, <xref type="inscription" n="6" href="120645">12.645</xref> (=75.327). This man has four nomina and two cognomina: the presence of Aurelius suggests that the text postdates the Edict of Caracalla on citizenship (212), but in any case not before the reign of Septimius (192).</p><p>A high priest of the imperial cult, also priest, apparently of Asklepios, to whom the dedication of a statuette of Sleep is especially relevant.  </p>
