White marble masonry block (0.98 × 0.76 × 0.39) damaged at the upper right and lower left corners, and along all edges.

Description of Text

Inscribed on the exposed face; from a composite monument, in which the inscription continued on a block to the right, and the lower parts of the letters in l.14 were cut on the block below.

0.035; ligatures: NH, l4, TH ll. 8, 10, 11, 12. Small circles to mark abbreviations and stops.

Second to third centuries A.D. (lettering).

Edition ὁ πλάτας καὶ ὁ βωμὸς καὶ εἰσιν Ποπλίου Αἰλίου Αὐρηλίου κατασκευασθέντα καὶ τοῖς τέκνοις αὐτοῦ ἐν ᾗ σορῷ κεκήδευται ὁ υἱὸς Πόπλιος Αἴλιος Αὐρήλιος καὶ κηδευθήσεται δὲ καὶ Πόπλιος Αἴλιος Αὐρήλιος Ἀ ἕτερος δὲ οὐδεὶς ἕξει ἐξουσίαν ἐνθάψαι εἰς αὐτήν τινα ἢ ἐκθάψαι ἀπὸ αὐτῆς ἐπεὶ ὁ τολμήσας τι τούτων ἔσται ἀσεβὴς καὶ ἐπάρατος καὶ τυμβωρύχος καὶ προσαποτείσει θεῷ Ἀφροδείτῃ δηνάρια μύρια ε τοῖς δὲ κατὰ καιρὸν νεοποιοῖς χρυσοφόροις τῆς θεοῦ δηνάρια τῆς ἐπιγραφῆς ταύτης ἀπετέθη ἀντίγραφον εἰς τὸ χρεοφυλάκιον ἐπὶ στεφανηφόρου τὸ β Ἀττάλου υἱοῦ Μενάνδρου μηνὸς
