Description of Monument

White marble garland sarcophagus (with lid) with 2 eagle medallions; for full description see Isik 127.

Description of Text

Inscribed on a tabella (0.46 × 0.58, die 0285 × 0.40). In the inscribed area the spaces between guide lines for ll. 2-6 are slightly sunk; at the right (and possibly the left) end of the sunk area containing l. 6 the cutter has added a 'handle', as if under the impression that he was supposed to make a tabella ansata here.

Translation

The sarcophagus and the place (on which it stands) is (the property) of Marcus Aurelius Attikos, son of Attikos, the son of Ophellios Christos.
