Acroterion fragment from a sarcophagus lid 0.32 × 0.25 × 0.245 with a relief of Ganymede and the eagle, broken away above.

Below, a simple moulding, inscribed in one line on the upper fascia, which is broken to the left and worn to the right.

Commentary

The inscription presumably continued on the sarcophagus itself. The text names a Marcus Aurelius A[.. in the genitive case—not necessarily a filiation (e.g. ἡ σορὸς ἔστι + gen.).
